Anwar's September Nightmare

Anwar digs himself into another sinking feeling

BY AZMI ANSHAR - 30 AUGUST 2014 @ 8:08 AM
DATUK Seri Anwar Ibrahim might be anxiously fretting that the ground beneath his feet is sinking again, only that the déjà vu the opposition leader and unelected PKR supremo is experiencing is no paranoia.
The ground is indeed falling as fast as the Rawang sinkholes when swallets horrendously appeared, sometimes caving inside living rooms or kitchen floors of horrified villagers.
Anwar could empathise with the Rawang sinkholes, given the metaphoric holes he excavated for himself since he went rogue on Sept 3, 1998.
Don’t remind or mention the month of September to Anwar: appalling stuff happened, either those subjected to him or those he subjected people to in his outlandish bid to claw out of the chasm he burrowed to make himself relevant.
Here are sordid samples why September commemorates a nightmare for Anwar:
SEPT 2, 1998: His dishonourable sacking as deputy prime minister in the day and expulsion from Umno later that night. Why he was sacked on both counts can be turn into a 10-part political TV melodrama, ramifications that forced a generational schism for 16 years;
SEPT 20, 1998: His first police arrest after arousing illegal street demonstrations to vent anger against his sacking. Anwar was charged with corruption for interfering with police investigations that included forcing a complainant to recant her story that he gambolled in sexual misconduct;
SEPT 16, 2008: He bragged one hoary claim after another that enough Barisan Nasional members of parliament were defecting to the opposition to topple the BN government in what is now a dud, a “wag-the-dog” histrionics to mask his arrest for a second sodomy charge that year.
The Sept 16 complot is a historic hoot: it failed then, it will fail now, just when Anwar possesses better numbers to play around with, which proves that after six years, it is another dreadful tune in his notorious hit parade.
Now here comes another nightmarish September moment for Anwar: Sept 3.
This one looms on Wednesday, the deadline decreed by the sultan of Selangor to PKR, DAP and Pas to nominate three names each to replace, as menteri besar, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, still defying gravity after his questionable sacking as PKR member that underhandedly cast him as a pariah by axis hardliners.
Certainly, it wasn’t intended that when the bigheaded PKR geniuses who engineered the Kajang Move to boorishly replace Khalid with Anwar, the crunch would arrive damningly on a September day.
Still, it’s creepy that major Anwar gambits get foiled in the 11th hour: his Kajang by-election candidature scratched after the prosecution won their appeal to overturn his Sodomy II acquittal and before that, the sacking, the Sept 16 damp squib and the GE13 defeat that presented probably his last shot at the premiership despite boasting a tweet on polling day that he had won.
Now, the sinkhole is set to reappear, again tantalisingly at the 11th hour this Wednesday when Pas makes or breaks the axis’ alliance by navigating itself into a Catch-22 situation.
If Pas presents three nominees as decreed by the sultan of Selangor, the Islamist party shreds the so-called axis consensus of fielding only Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as the sole nominee.
If Pas embraces the axis’ single nominee, it licks back its own spittle, forced to endorse Dr Wan Azizah’s nomination but worse, disobeying the Selangor ruler’s decree, a no-no for Pas because of its loyalty to His Highness.
However, reading into Pas’ simmering resentment against its PKR and DAP allies, it appears wilfully ready to break ranks for three reasons:
PAS balks at the nepotistic nature of Dr Wan Azizah’s nomination, “remote controlled” by Anwar, as one report goes;
PAS is sick and tired of years of being undermined in major policies, especially those that affect its Islamic precepts; and
PAS fears that the collaborative years were analogous to having ditched itsakidah, the Islamic article of faith, which warns of divine retribution in the afterlife.
If Pas resorts to the three-nominee decree, Anwar is as good as finished in Selangor, realising too well that the sultan of Selangor, who has refused to even consider Dr Wan Azizah, will appoint the third (or fourth) nominee that is not named after his wife or his bolshie loyalist, Azmin Ali.
Even if the situation warrants a snap state election (which everyone seems to dread) where the axis retains power, the same obstinate scenario will replay where Anwar won’t relent while the sultan acts within his constitutional supremacy.
The delicious poser is, will Anwar go ballistic against the sultan of Selangor by unleashing his retaliatory arsenal of street demonstrations, social media assaults and other protests of insolence that reprises his vengeance against various Federal Government leaders in the past 16 years?

Kak Wan will go down in Malaysia History for being rejected Thrice

I agree with Syed, Kak Wan will go down in Malaysia History as the woman who got rejected for the MB post by the Sultan of Selangor.  But Syed is very arrogant and bold to claim that the Sultan rejected Kak Wan because she is a woman. Till today I have never seen or heard any indication from the Royal House that gender was the reason for the rejection. What I do know is that the Sultan of Selangor does not want a remote control person to be the MB.  Secondly from other source it was indicated that Kak Wan was born in Singapore.  Thirdly what policy has Kak Wan proposed and achieve since she became MP. Fourth - Can Kak Wan really run Selangor when she cannot even handle her own children messy marriage and allowing her children to live in sin. Fifth - the only difference between Kak Wan and Rosmah is the tudung.  When it comes to greed, they are alike in so many ways.
PEOPLE LIKE SYED ARE COMMON AMONG THE PARIAH DOGS, SO IT IS OKAY FOR THEM TO WANT TO PLEASE THEIR MASTERS.
MY GIFT TO SYED FOR MERDEKA WILL BE REVEAL SOON.

Firstly, I do not know who gave the title “Constitutional Expert” to Professor Aziz Bari.  The fact that he used to lecture at the law faculty of the International Islamic University does not make him one.  It is like saying every soldier is a demolitions expert. However, everyone can safely deduce that he leans more towards Pakatan Rakyat, especially PKR, politically.
Probably every Tom, Dick and Harry might have responded to Aziz Bari’s claim that the Sultan of Selangor has no right to ask for more names for the latter to choose as the next Menteri Besar of Selangor.  He said this as reported by Malaysiakini’s Pakar: Sultan Tiada Kuasa Minta Banyak Nama(27th August 2014). In his statement, Aziz said that in a Parliamentary system, the (state) government is responsible to the state assembly, not to the Sultan. He added that the Sultan only has to agree to appoint the candidate with the most support in the state assembly as the Menteri Besar.
“Majority,” he said to Malaysiakini, “is the only (appointment) criteria, therefore the Sultan has no right to request for more names since there is already majority.”
Perhaps our “Constitutional Expert” does not know much on the history behind the Constitution. The Rulers may be Constitutional Monarchs but ours is not the same as the Westminster Monarch that they have in England.  In England, the monarchy was reinstated with the installation of King Charles II by Parliament after the failure of Oliver Cromwell’s Republic that followed the decapitation of King Charles I.  All laws are passed by Parliament without the Queen’s Consent (or King’s Consent if the Ruler of England is male) save for four things: bills affecting the royal prerogative (whatever the royal prerogatives are, are quite shady due to the nature of the uncodified Constitution in England). The second is bills affecting the hereditary revenues of the Duchy of Lancaster or the Duchy or Cornwall. Third, bills affecting the personal property of the monarch, and lastly, bills affecting the “personal interests” of the monarch.
To understand the role of the Rulers in Malaysia one must take several steps back in the history of this nation.  The mistake made by the government since those days is to instill the spirit of nationalism into every Malaysian.  The simplest way is to say that we were colonised by the British, and that we gained independence for them – which would only be true for Pulau Pinang, Melaka and Singapore. When Malaya gained “independence” only Pulau Pinang and Melaka rejoined Malaya while Singapore remained a British colony.  The British were here by virtue of the various treaties made with the respective Malay rulers.  British advisers were appointed and were paid by the Sultan who appointed them to administer the state on behalf of the Sultan.  They basically administered everything except for matters that affected Islam and the Malay customs, which remained the Sultan’s sole prerogative.  When the British administration left in 1957, this role was taken over by the Menteri Besar and the state executive assembly that form the administration part of the state government through elections.  The executive power remains with the Sultan. This is evident in Article 181(1) of the Federal Constitution that says:
“Subject to the provisions of this Constitution,” the “sovereignty, prerogatives, powers and jurisdiction of the Rulers…as hitherto had and enjoyed shall remain unaffected.”
The same was noted by Mark R Gillen of the Faculty of Law, University of Victoria (Gillen 1994:7). In the words of the late Sultan of Perak, Sultan Azlan Shah, former Lord President, it is:
“a mistake to think that the role of a King, like that of a President, is confined to what is laid down by the Constitution, His role far exceeds those constitutional provisions” (Azlan Shah 1986:89)
On Aziz Bari’s claim that the (state) government is answerable to the state assembly and not to the Sultan, may I remind Aziz Bari that in Article 50 of the Selangor Constitution, 1959, it says;
“The executive authority of the State shall be vested in His Highness and exercisable, unless otherwise provided by the Federal Constitution or this Constitution, by him or by the State Executive Council or any member of the State Executive Council authorised by the State Executive Council, byt executive functions may by law be conferred on other persons or authorities.”
You cannot form a government without the consent of the Sultan; hence the need for the Menteri Besar and members of the Executive Council to take an oath of office before the Sultan to administer the State on behalf of the Sultan.
On Aziz Bari’s claim that the Sultan is only to appoint as Menteri Besar whoever has the support of the majority in the state assembly, Aziz Bari should go back to where he read law and ask for his money back.  The Selangor State Constitution explicitly states in Articles 51 and 53(2) that the appointment of the Menteri Besar is the prerogative of the Sultan. The person to be appointed as Menteri Besar is a person, IN HIS MAJESTY’S JUDGMENT is likely to command the confidence of the majority of the members of the Assembly.  Therefore it is right for His Royal Highness to ask for more than two names to be submitted by each political party that has the majority command of the state assembly.
The same happened in Terengganu when UMNO wanted Idris Jusoh to continue on as the Menteri Besar after the 2008 General Election but the Sultan overruled and insisted on Ahmad Said instead.
The above is the form of democracy with the Sultan having the right to choose whom to head the executive branch of his government to administer the state on His Majesty’s behalf.  What is not democratic is Rafizi Ramli’s instruction to Selangor State Assemblymen under PKR except Wan Azizah and Azmin Ali to decline if nominated as the Menteri Besar by the other parties.
This is to choose a state government FOR THE PEOPLE, not for PKR. Rafizi should just shut up and hide behind his boss, while Aziz Bari ought to ask for his law school fees back, find a better law school and stop this masquerade.

The one coming soon

Easy to understand but difficulty in digesting

The statement from HRH is in Bahasa Malaysia but so easy to understand. It said more than two names, not at least two names. More than two names mean at least three names.
THE CORRIDORS OF POWER
Raja Petra Kamarudin
His Royal Highness the Sultan of Selangor has expressed his unhappiness about the anti-palace remarks made by certain politicians that were damaging and hurtful and borders on sedition. The palace spokesman said HRH was hurt and offended by the continuous attacks by certain quarters.
“The palace has been quiet but people keep on making anti-palace remarks. The remarks are offensive. These people should read the state constitution and understand the palace’s convention, protocol and tradition before making any comments on the situation. Certain lawyers from political parties are hired to interpret things according to what the client wants,” said the spokesman.
In the recent statement issued by the palace, HRH said as provided under Articles LI (1), LIII (2)(a), (4) and LV (2)(a) of the Selangor State Constitution 1959, the Sultan of Selangor is given absolute discretionary power to appoint a mentri besar for the Selangor state government who, in the Ruler’s opinion, has the majority support of the State Legislative Assembly.
This means the Sultan and not Anwar Ibrahim decides who should be the Menteri Besar of Selangor. And Anwar had better get this through his head because he takes on the Sultan at his own peril.
Furthermore, the pro-opposition media is playing up the issue of the two names as candidates for Menteri Besar and said that while DAP and PKR, in defiance of HRH, will propose only one name, PAS, on the other hand, will propose two names.
What HRH commanded them to do (titah) was not to propose two names but to propose more than two names. That means at least three names or more.
The statement from HRH is in Bahasa Malaysia but so easy to understand. It said more than two names, not at least two names. More than two names mean at least three names.
Why can’t they understand such a simple command from HRH the Sultan of Selangor?

Khalid Samad should join PKR, DAP or UMNO

Khalid Samad is telling PAS members to leave PAS if not happy working with Pakatan.
In my personal opinion I think Khalid Samad should leave PAS instead.
Knowing how the mechanism works inside PAS, people like Khalid Samad who are unhappy with the system should pack up instead of creating disharmony within the party. Who is Khalid Samad to change PAS?  Wasn't PAS formed before Khalid Samad was even born.
People who think of themselves being right all the time should be man enough to leave and form his own party or join PKR, DAP or UMNO.  Why complain and complain like a frustrated old man.
Me think Khalid Samad got monetary gain in his heart.

Anyone?

Whose idea is this?

Compassion is not the business

DAP takes all

Why do you think DAP is sticking its neck out for PKR?
Is it because DAP cannot do without PKR or is it because of the coalition pact or is it because of the 3 in 1 formula?
Today the ball is not in PKR's court but DAP.
Today DAP has become the Hero in making.
DAP WILL BECOME THE NEXT GOVERNMENT OF SELANGOR.
Like I have said many times, DAP has learnt its lesson since 13th May 1969.
Today if given a chance DAP will take over from MB Khalid but......
Yes DAP is stuck for the time being of not having a MELAYU in Selangor.
But is definitely ready for GE 14th.
This is DAP's plan but along the way PKR had to be the trouble maker.
This crisis in Selangor might spoil the plan for Tony Pua to be the next CM of Penang if it goes wrong.
The breakdown of PKR is real.
The  King and Queen Troublemakers will die in existence.
Azmin Ali will join PAS or UMNO.
Nurul future is with DAP if she plays her card well.
Rafizi will join DAP as his ambition to be the MB of Selangor is greater.
The plan is very simple.
First DAP got to be seen as obedient to PR pact.
Second knowing Kak Wan and Azmin cannot be MB, DAP will support going against the Royal Decree using the First as an excuse to please Selangorians who hate the Sultan. Whatever happens it is definite Kak Wan and Azmin will not be able to call the shot come GE14th because of this crisis.
Third - once the path is clear, DAP is confident the party can be seen as trustworthy enough to rule Selangor by all Selangorians and get out from the PR Coalition without a scar.

REMEMBER THIS WELL.

DAP                                   DAPAT SEMUA
PAS                                    PAU HABIS
PKR                                    PERGI KELUAR RAMA-RAMAI

What more does PKR want?

PKR CLAIMED TO HAVE 500,000 MEMBERS.
YET KAK WAN IS THE ONLY CANDIDATE FOR THE MENTERI BESAR SEAT IN SELANGOR.
SO THIS IS PROOF THAT PKR DOES NOT TRUST ITS OWN MEMBERS TO BE EVEN A CANDIDATE FOR THE MENTERI BESAR POST.
SO BASICALLY WHAT PKR IS SAYING THAT ALL IT MEMBERS MUST BE KISSING DOGS ONLY.

Destiny and Two Moon

TODAY'S MAKING IS TOMORROW'S DESTINY

DAP                                                             DAPAT

PAS                                                              PAU

PKR                                                              PERGI KELUAR                                                                                 RAMAI-RAMAI

Against the Royal Decree

WAH! PKR AND DAP ARE VERY, VERY DESPERATE WHEN THE GOING HIT A WALL.
THIS WAR AGAINST THE ROYAL DECREE IS BOLD AND RISKY.
WITH THE MOST NUMBERS OF LAWYERS AS PKR AND DAP SUPPORTERS THIS IS GOING TO BE VERY, VERY INTERESTING.
TODAY IS TWO MOON DAY AND IF YOU THINK YOUR ARROGANCE AND GREED IS GREATER THAN DESTINY, I PITY YOU.
LIKE I HAVE SAID MANY TIMES, WE SELANGORIANS WILL TEACH KAK WAN AND ANWAR A LESSON IN REAL POLITIC.
THE TROUBLE WITH KAK WAN AND ANWAR, THEY DO NOT CARE FOR THEIR DIGNITY BUT ONLY THE RM3 BILLION.
MY ONLY ADVICE TO DAP IS TO LOOK AT THE FUTURE INSTEAD OF IMMEDIATE GAIN.

Royal Slap

TODAY WE ARE HAPPY KAK WAN GOT REJECTED AGAIN.
SO DO YOU THINK WE WILL ALLOW HER TO GO LIGHTLY TO CAUSE MORE TROUBLE.
THE GAME IS NOT OVER YET.

Today Selangorians will punish Kak Wan and Anwar

Time and again you have cross the line.
You stopped Unisel Students from starting their term.
You make the poor suffered by not getting their money on time.
You stopped contractors from collecting the rubbish.
You sabotage the water for all Selangorians.
There are many other illegal activities you have started.
You never cared for the Rakyat.
Everything is about YOU, YOU AND ONLY YOU.
TODAY, WE SELANGORIANS HAVE GATHERED TOGETHER TO PUNISH YOU.
TODAY WE TEACH YOU WHAT POLITIC IS ALL ABOUT.
TODAY WE SELANGORIANS SAY 'ENOUGH IS ENOUGH'
IT IS TIME FOR YOU TO LEAVE.

Challenge to PKR, PAS and DAP

WHERE IS YOUR SO-CALLED LIST TO SUPPORT KAK WAN?
WHEN THE SULTAN WAS NOT HOME, EVERYONE CAME OUT TO PLAY, PLAY.
SINCE SULTAN RETURNED, NOT A SINGLE ONE CAME OUT TO PLAY.
WHY BEHAVE LIKE A MOUSE.
BEFORE LIKE TIGER WANTING TO EAT THE FLESH OF MB KHALID.
WE, SELANGORIANS WILL GIVE PKR, PAS AND DAP TILL MIDNIGHT TO SHOW THEIR COURAGE TO CHANGE THE SELANGOR STATE CONSTITUTION.
TOMORROW WE WILL SHOW YOU HOW IT SHOULD BE PLAY.
